The story that I was told about how we first like studied CR was that there was the Great Depression and we were worried that if we ate less we'd be worse off. So they found that actually these were at so longer. The thing that she said was whether if you knocked out the gonad of worms they live longer because there's this idea that maybe there's a trade-off between production and lifespan. If you knock out the whole gonad including the somatic covering they actually don't live longer, which is very weird. There's this paper that people always cite from like a while ago it was in a good journal like looking at Korean Unix or  Korean court records
