The Myth of Duvalier
Duvalier claims to be able to speak to the dead. He orders decapitated heads of his enemies to be brought to him. The foreign press are, to some extent, complicit in mythologizing this dictator. Papadock used voodoo to control the nation. Now he's claiming to actually be Baron Samadie. A rumor circulates. Duvalier looks set to rule until the end of his natural life. But beyond that, what will his fiefdom look like?
