We tend to think medieval people don't move outside their own village, but you've got sophisticated networks covering most of England at this point. See, it's even true of Stonehenge that a lot of the finds in Stonehenge are actually modelled on things that were from the Orkmas. In other words, not only were there things passing from the very north to the very south, there were ideas, there must have been narratives. All that stuff was spinning around the country at a time when we just think that people were just like there was them and there was their wood and they never went beyond it.
