Episode 172: A Pregnant Patient with Congenital Heart Disease
Anesthesia and Critical Care Reviews and Commentary (ACCRAC) Podcast

What Are Some Obstetric Complications in Congenital Heart Disease?
Dr. Ming: It's so important to remember that, you know, there are other things that could be going on. You don't want to be so focused on the repair of tetralogy that you forget that she could be septic or that she could have gotten a medication that could be causing an arrhythmia. Another thing to look out for is hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, which certainly can happen in women that have congenital heart disease and sometimes this can happen in the postpartum period as well.
