Cryptocurrency and the Environment
In some ways, i crypto currency has become the mega fauna of this problem. It's a spectacular example of what happens when you create a system that relies on as a sort of proof of work an enormous series of computational cycles. Only then can we actually make a decisionof, is this worth it, and where is it worth it? Because otherwise, we're simply believing this idea that all ai is going to be taking us to, you know, that the promised land of the future.
