What Is Nature?
We come to understand what nature is mostly through the sudden presentation of a disaster. The way we mediate that disaster, or exactly the way we understand or respond to that disaster, is hugely variegated. And this is where many of the political stakes of what we describe as copasism come into play. A conception of nature that is apposite, useful, deplorable, operationalized in a particular crisis, well change depending on what the crisis is.
