The History of Wikipedia
When we built this for Wolf language and Mathematica, starting in 87, we wanted to do resolution independent hidden surface removal. I think it was done using a Z-buffer technique, where you basically say, let's draw out the every piece of every line. You have to break them up into lots of pieces, and that was algorithmically quite tricky. There's a question here from Word Nerd about the history of Wikipedia. How did it come to exist? I certainly don't know all the details of that.
