How Do You Solve Hyperactive Delirium?
The next day we admit a patient who's 92 year old woman with mild cognitive impairment from vascular disease. The nurses call you for increasing agitation and aggressive behaviors. They are worried, they say that she's going to try to get out of bed by herself and have a fall. So can you just talk us about how you would approach the situation? Sure. We need to figure out what is causing the hyperactive delirium. I'll be happy to also talk about if need be a pharmacological treatment as well.
