Mentorships can be cultivated from the top down and the bottom up. But there's another direction mentorship can flourish, it's sideways. The best conversations in my career have not been because like the CEO from on high has come to me or some senior person. It's often a peer of mine who will say, actually, I'm moving on from my job.
