There are midrashic stories that are intertwined with biblical stories in the Quran. Islam, like Judaism, is a religion of law and Sharia is the equivalent of halakhic. It's very different for Christianity in which the keeping of commandments is not a sacraments. The Arabs before Islam, the pagan Arabs, did not have Sharia, they did not have a halakhic system.
