The delivery of the performance is more important than whatever hardware you have in front of you. A good performance can make a bigger difference than the equipment ever will. Sometimes it's strictly because of the performance that an artist just can't seem to get behind the mix. If you're not in the mood it's definitely going to be recorded that mood is recorded, so sometimes its hard to recreate the vibe and get new takes another day.
