The idea of junk DNA is that about 2% of our DNA is protein, encoding. The other 90%, we just had no idea what it did. We are just like a container to carry these like selfish genes along for the ride. Those genes want to carry their DNA forward. They don't actually have to create any value for us necessarily as long as they keep getting reproduced. And so it's possible that you can hit yourself in the head with this theory and then look back and be embarrassed at how much your DNA was useless.
