The History of Soda Fountains

In 1922, Walgreens employee Ivar Popkulson added a large scoop of ice cream to the melted milk mixture and changed everything. Customers stood three and four deep around the soda fountain to buy the double rich chocolate malted milk. A lot of those drugstores were serving fizzy drinks or carbonated sodas sometimes as medicine. 7-Up was invented in 1929 as a treatment for bipolar disorder and depression.
