Introduction

Hosea is instructed to take goma, a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress. The emphasis on the verb love in verse one underlines the emotional stakes of the situation. She isn't merely sexually shameful as a wife of hordam, but guilty of adultery with another man. In taking such a wife, hoseah would have invited shame upon himself and his children. But the statements of judg were followed by promises of restoration.
