Caruso thinks we can and should hold people morally responsible, but in a way that is more like more accountability or answerability. So not truly in quotes, but still to be held accountable. They both seem to be forward looking in the consequentialistic sense regarding any sort of sanctioning In their views, they should be treated as if they've done something wrong because it has beneficial forward-looking effects.
