Edom's Overthrow of Judah and Jerusalem
Many texts of the old testament speak to edam's involvement in the overthrow of judah and jerusalem. This strongly points to obediah being a response to edom's part in the downfall of the southern kingdom. It seems most natural then to read the book of obediah as a response to these same events, in which case it needs to be dated earlier than the completion of the book of joel.
