Holding Space Is a Practice

Holding space is absolutely a practice. We're setting ourselves up for failure if we have an expectation that ourselves or another person holding space for us is suddenly going to be entirely present, be regulated and tuned into what the other person is saying. That takes practice as Nicole's saying, you have to be regulated within your body. If your nervous system is in a fight or flight stage or you're in complete dysregulation or chaos, you don't have the ability or access in that moment to be completely at ease or receptive or present to what the other people is saying.
