Conball is an ongoing series of indeterminate length, where we look at the lawsuits concerning the odd and dormant clauses of the Constitution. In this case, a group of foie grassellers filed a lawsuit in federal court against California's ban on selling goose liver. They argued that the law was unconstitutional because it violated the dormant commerce clause. The idea here is that the constitution prohibits states from using their own state laws in a way that makes it impossible or really difficult to have the free flow of interstate commerce across the country.
