The Moon as the Figure for Instinct and Intuition
The Kabbalah is certainly an intellectual system. It's not so much saying that intelligence is bad, which is one of the dangers of getting into birds. There's nothing anti-aculture non-esoteric about intelligence. Intelligence for him is at the heart of esoteric knowledge. The world viewed under the aspect of lunar knowledge where it's the same but totally transmogrified and spookier. When you have a full moon, you can see things clearly enough. You can walk around and do stuff outdoors. And the world viewed in the light of the moon is very much a figure for esoteric knowledge.
