With shiitake you're kind of leveling up a little bit, so for our mushroom inoculation class I've already, we got a tree cut down in our yard. You will have to buy like the plug spawn but other than that again you don't really need to be super clean. If you can source a fresh log from a arborist or if you're having something cut down in your house or at your property it's really not that big of a process to do yourself.
