The Fed's Unique Power Is Spectacular, Right?
The Fed's power is partly the result of its legal constitution and its institutional structure. But it's also the result of a kind of default by other parts of American government, right? So in the context of that kind of institutional failure, where there's a struggle even to keep the lights on much less sort of coordinate and plan fiscal policy for national let alone international level, the Fed's powers are magnified further.
