The Infallibility of the Pope
Peter's job was not just to welcome people in and play that role of hospitality, but also to keep certain people out. He draws some kind of line of demarcation between who is a disciple, who's following Jesus, who's actually not a disciple. This does not mean that Peter has absolute power as a whole thing here. The idea is that when you make a decision on earth, that decision will have been made in heaven.
