The Labour Party like to talk about an average, what they call Tory mortgage penalty of £2,900 this year. Is that a fair way of looking at the rise that many people are facing? I'm very anti-averiges being used for the simple reason that it panics people. The message from everyone has been very clear. People need to talk to their lenders if they think they are going to face financial difficulty. But scaring people with average numbers could be counterproductive.
