Asylum Decision-Making in the Home Office
We've had a massive underinvestment in decision-making capability, says Lord Tebbit. We have made the deliberate political choice to house people in unsuitable hotel accommodation and not to consult with local communities about how best to accommodate people who are within the system. So you need to invest in asylum decision-making that provides answers within a reasonable timeframe. But that involves opening up far more pathways to mobility, including visa access, or visa free access for people fleeing from dangerous situations worldwide. Which the government would say was politically impossible.
