The Ardennes' Offensive

General Heinz Gudurin, who was the chief of staff for the German Army, desperately wanted to concentrate all their forces and resources on the East. But it was overridden by Hitler. The whole point of the Ardennes' offensive was to give the Allies a bloody nose with Antwerp. And in fact, ironically, that is exactly what they did do. After the battle of the Bulge came to an end, the Sixth Panzer Army was then sent to Hungary because Hitler wanted to keep hold of the hunger and oil fields.
