The Importance of Repatriation in the Wake of Unrest

A 10 foot long, 940 pound wooden drum was returned to Ivory Coast earlier this year. It had been kept outside the home of the colonial governor in Ivory Coast from 1916 to 1930. The Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art and the government of the Republic of Yemen have entered into an agreement for the Smithsonian to store these objects for up to two years.
