The Role of the Cartel in Colombia's Economic Success

Colombia has had a constitution with steady democratic rule and no crisis since 1991. Chavez started his anti-democratic campaign in Venezuela, he had more than 70% of people rating there. And so it was much easier for him to brush aside the institutions. So as far as the cartels go, I would just say that their power base, kind of the largest power center was in Medellin.
