Pisyshridis and the Trojan War

According to Herodotus, Athens' position in the Aegean and prestige among the Ionian states was further strengthened by his religious purification of the island of Delos. He did this by digging up all of the tombs that were within sight of the Sanctuary of Apollo,. According to tradition, Pisyshridis did a far more lasting thing for the two great Ionic epics. He commissioned the best scholars to figure out the true version of Homer's poems. His true version became standard all the way down to modern time.
