The hinge point we're going to be talking about might be a bit arcane for some of you, but we actually think it's really crucial to understanding the specific historical trajectory of modern capitalism in Europe and beyond. Doggerland was basically the land bridge that existed between the modern UK and France in the English channel. About 8,000 ish years ago, it was filled in by rising sea levels. The isolation of England allowed for the rise of a particular form of capitalism that eventually took over the globe.
