Growing a Business Is Harder Than Acquiring Businesses
I think learning to organically grow businesses is much harder in practice than learning how to acquire businesses. Acquiring businesses is much more math. It's much more transactional. Whereas growing a business is transformational. And it makes it a lot harder for people to do than there is to do the M&A side. I know when I sold my company, I thought that the private equity side, these were the smartest people in the world. But what I experienced instead was realizing that my skill set was actually unique.
