The State of Nature

Even the practice of coming up with the idea of contract theory, I think he says is progress because we find ourselves just in a state. Primordially, it's people conquering each other. And that's how we get a government. But then when we sort of think about our interests as philosophers and we come up, hey, you know, it's actually in my interest not to be in the state of nature where everybody be killing each other all the time. We're still in the same state, but we've gone a little direction just by doing the philosophy.
