The Wandering Womb
The wandering womb is a way of conceptualizing women's bodies. It connects to menstruation as you alluded to early on, Greg. Medical writers thought that because women were colder than men, they didn't possess the heat necessary to digest food. And one of the remedies for menstrual problem or the wandering womb was to have sex. Seaman would moisten and heat the womb. It would keep it in place.
