The Mechanical and the Electric Media
McLuhan sees great possibility in the advent of electric media, but also sees a lot of trauma and conflict. He is not on really any political line that's coherent or recognizable. However, unlike someone like Benjamin who didn't have the opportunity to develop much more than his analytical thinking he did offer an eclectic set of concepts we can use to help ourselves. And they're fundamentally informed by the rise of the study ofMedia as symbol for psychic formation - which it becomes very popular with people today.
