"I was just getting into music in a way where I was starting to record in my bedroom and things like that," he says. "You don't decide your life at that 13 or 14 ... You just sort of like head down this one path, and then if you get the calling down the road, then that's the thing." He would have dropped out of high school and just done upholstery if he could have.
