Theories like Newton's or the Plastu and developments that came later are acceptable as long as they're part of a mathematical theory. John Locke understood this very quickly, he came out with what's called Locke's hypothesis. He comes down to me essentially thinking anything mental. It's just some aspect of organized properties in the brain. The machine is whatever exists in the world.
