Focusing on big versus small government is like if you had a bunch of red guns and blue guns, and then a bunch ofRed vs Blue: pudding brain. The actual conflict is about what we should be doing with the government - promoting or protecting hierarchies? You can apply everything i just said about big versus smallGovernment to the individual versus the collective definition. They are clear opposites, so it's coherent, but they don't reflect a real cleavage between political forces.
