William Beaumont was born in some in Connecticut in 1785 he left home in 1806 he goes on to become a doctor. He met Alexander St. Martin a French Canadian who was accidentally wounded by discharging a musket the musket ball pierced the abdominal wall and passed into the stomach leaving a gaping hole. While convalescing, eight would pour out of the hole in his stomach when quote fully healed a movable flap of skin had grown over the hole allowing Dr. Beaumont direct access to the stomach.
