Druid - What's the Architecture of an Application?

A lot of organizations are preferring to explore and interact with their data through applications. druid is built with this idea that we want to make it easy for people to build these types of applications that interact with the data. And in particular we want people to build applications that still feel really snappy and give users a really good experience when there's a ton of data that needs to be analyzed.
