What's My Favorite Eye?
The mantis shrimp is not really a shrimp. It's a stamatapod, and it sort of looks like a brotworst. They have highly concentrated compound eyes around a belt like equator each eye. And the punch line is that this animal has 14 visual pigments. Some of these pigments can see circular polarized light and linear polarized light. Both of those concepts are hard for us to get our brain around because there's something we can't do.
