Jeremiah's Suffering in Lamentations

Jeremiah among all the prophets is best illustration of that strange combination of emotions that will define Judaism and the Jewish people from Jeremiah onward, certainly from Rome onward. Lamentations are a book attached to Jeremiah called lamentations because they're going to rebuild that temple and then the Romans will destroy it again. The song White Christmas was written by a Jewish son of an immigrant who wanted to be a songwriter but ended up selling appliances. It's my favorite song sung by the tabernacle choir as the number one most important influential song of the 20th century.
