The Overestimation of Contrast Induced Nephropathy
The incidence of contrast induced nephropathy has been greatly exaggerated over the years. Most people, if they have a history of renal insufficiency or some renal history, you'll get a GFR. If the GFR is above 60, we usually give it contrast without problems. Generally, if it's less than 30, we don't use contrast unless it's a life-threatening emergency.
