The Dangers of Following Your Desires

The main Buddhist diagnosis of the problem of our existence is that we're caught up in these cycles of desire. It becomes very, very dangerous to live a life where you are just trying to please yourself and do things that give you some kind of pleasure because what people find quite quickly is that they can never be satisfied. And so if all you're doing is moving from kind of seeking pleasure to seeking pleasure, it's actually seeing the emptiness of that that gets you closer to truth.
