The Apple Pencil Charges Off the Side of My iPad Mini

When you first get it, you have to go into your Bluetooth menu and connect to it like you would any other Bluetooth device. And then when you put it on the side of the iPad, it will charge the battery, but you don't get the little pop up window saying how the battery is charging. So their workaround is because the Bluetooth device, it integrates into Apple's batteries widget. But for me, for what I do with an Apple pencil in my iPad is taking handwritten notes. I don't need pressure sensitivity.
