Bhagavan says the world is unreal because it appears to be so. The root cause of all our problems is our rising as ego, Bhagavan has taught us. So how can we get rid of this false awareness only by correct awareness? In other words, by knowing who am I? This is why Bhagavan's teachings are extremely practical.
