In the old testament, there are examples of god smiting people with all kinds of things. If you embrace that sickness or welcome it, or pray for it, you're going to die. It is true that resisting something and fighting against sickness will make you a stronger christian. But only if you resist the enemy and use the knowledge that you've got, or you'll be any better.
