The Careening Pendulum of Privacy Law

There are very strong, coherent, press and media protections in the first amendment. And then just much, much more fuzzy and sometimes flaccid ideas about the protection of privacy. The privacy that i write about is this clash between freedom of the press and the right to privacy. In a tort sense, what can people be liable for reporting about you if they find some secret? What might they be liable for despite freedom of expression?
