The Non-Density Problem
There's a view that we have obligations to beings that don't yet exist. We should create a world filled with justice, not for ourselves, but for these future generations says Rivkin. Do you think we can owe these beings something? Yes, but I think it's complicated and I've written a lot on this topic metaphysically. A future person is someone who will exist in the future, we just don't know which particular person it would be or something like that. And so I think we do owe things to future people if we know if we have a good reason to think they're there.
