The Book of Mormon - I Will Utterly Destroy You if You Sin
The Book of Mormon opens a door to saying that signs are given and appropriately can be sought for to confirm a belief I am choosing to believe in. It's an act of faith for me to say, Lord, I believe, but I am seeking a sign to the intent that I might more firmly believe. Sometimes it's the shades of gray that make the picture come in a focus. And context matters; thank goodness the Lord gives us multiple scriptures so that we can see how all of this is balanced.
