The Weaning of Isaac
verse 8 tells us about the weaning of Isaac. Probably he was around two years old. And it's on this occasion that Sarah takes a step to protect her child. This is a stage in his development and he needs the protection now. Now in verse 9 it says that Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian. Notice the word Egyptian is prominent here in the text. We already know that Hagar was an Egyptian but attention is called to it again here.
