The Importance of Trend Following

In isolation I would be a bit more prudent on how much shorting I would do in trend following if you were to be just kept in isolation. The last manager we had on our mini CTA series definitely and I think this was the first time I've heard someone state that explicitly long exposure over short. Even the managers that I follow closely and some of our colleagues the returns they put up by just doing things the simple way treating everything equal have put up some pretty compelling return streams over 40-50 years so I'm kind of leaning towards you know good enough is good enough and don't be too clever because who knows we can have a decade of massive bear markets in bonds and stocks.
